Written by Sanjana K, 1st Sem, A sec, SKIT, BengaluruI, Miss Sanjana K, a student of Sri Krishna Institute of Technology (SKIT) studying in 1st year, 'A' section from Department of Computer Science and Engineering. It’s been 4 months since I joined the Institute. I am very happy studying at SKIT. That was COVID time when our classes started. Our first year began with the Student Induction Program – Online, which was conducted for a one-week duration. The Induction program had many sessions on Mental and Physical Health, Communication Skills, Self-Discipline, Engineering ethics, mental fitness during the lockdown, Universal Human Values, innovation and creativity, awareness of COVID, and many more. These talks thought us to think, plan to achieve our goals. I learned how well-disciplined, dedicated I should be to fulfill my dreams. After our induction program, we had offline classes and that was the best thing because till then I saw my institute, friends, and teachers just in pictures. I was excited to meet everyone in person!! Let me say you one best thing I felt was, about Teachers. Yes, they are very good at presenting lectures in their way. Well experienced and friendly too!!
In this pandemic situation, our Institute made sure that everything was well maintained, clean, and hygienic. Often, we all had regular COVID tests in our Institute. There were many informational and technical sessions conducted for us, which helped us to concentrate on technical skills too. A photography contest was organized exclusively for 1st-year students where we had a moment's of happiness by participating in that competition. Yes, you read it right; it was for 1st-year students only. I and all my new friends had an awesome time, exploring every nook and corner of our institute. With a strong belief in gender equality and creating a fair space for everyone, SKIT celebrated "International Women's day". My Institute recognized the hard work, the contribution of the housekeeping staff in maintain cleanliness and honored them. It was a wonderful sight. One of our guests spoke about nutrition value and fitness. Also, we had a doctor who gave us an idea about sanitary waste and spoke about menstrual cups which keep our surroundings more hygienic. Then we had a culture program by our lady faculties and young girls present there.
Two days’ workshop was conducted by Tequed labs where students participated and got more practical information about software aspects. I find that the environment of my Institute is lively, of course with discipline and inspiring to every student to study well. I believe SKIT will do many other things to develop our skills in various ways.
And I proudly say, 'It's my college and it's my Pride'!!
