Anti Ragging Committee

As per statutory regulations, ragging includes one or more of the following acts:
  • Teasing or Rude Behavior
    Any conduct by a student (spoken, written, or through actions) that teases, mistreats, or behaves rudely with a fresher or any other student.

  • Rowdy or Undisciplined Activities
    Any act that causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship, physical or psychological harm, fear, or apprehension in a fresher or another student.

  • Acts Causing Shame or Embarrassment
    Forcing a student to perform an act that they would not ordinarily do, resulting in shame, embarrassment, or mental/physical distress.

  • Disruption of Academic Activities
    Any act by a senior student that disrupts or interferes with the regular academic activities of a fresher or another student.

  • Exploitation for Academic Work
    Using the services of a fresher or any student to complete academic tasks assigned to an individual or group.

  • Financial Extortion
    Forcing a fresher or any student to spend money or bear financial burdens.

  • Physical or Sexual Abuse
    Any form of physical abuse including sexual harassment, assault, stripping, forcing obscene acts or gestures, or causing bodily harm.

  • Verbal or Written Abuse
    Insults, derogatory remarks, emails, posts, or public humiliation that cause mental distress or derive perverted or sadistic pleasure from another student’s discomfort.

  • Mental Harassment or Intimidation
    Any act affecting the mental health or self-confidence of a fresher or student, including abuse of power, authority, or superiority.

Objectives

The Anti-Ragging Committee is constituted to:

  • Prevent ragging within the institute premises.

  • Create awareness among students regarding the ill effects and legal consequences of ragging.

  • Ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive campus environment.

Functions

The Committee shall: 

  • Conduct awareness programs on Anti-Ragging for students.

  • Display posters and notices across the campus regarding ragging and its punishments.

  • Ensure vigilance at sensitive areas such as canteens, hostels, bus stops, corridors, and other common spaces.

  • Inquire into complaints of ragging received from students.

  • Recommend appropriate action as per the guidelines of AICTE/UGC and other regulatory authorities.

  • Coordinate with the Grievance & Redressal Committee to strengthen anti-ragging initiatives.

  • Organize meetings, seminars, and presentations for senior students, faculty, and non-teaching staff.

  • Conduct meetings as and when required and report relevant matters to the Director.

Complaint Mechanism

Students can report incidents of ragging through any of the following channels:

  • Submit a written complaint to the Anti-Ragging Committee.

  • Drop complaints in the designated complaint box available on campus.

  • All complaints will be treated with strict confidentiality.
