SKIT Bangalore's Civil Engineering Department organised a three-day industrial visit from 27th to 29th April 2026, taking students across multiple landmark engineering and geological sites in coastal Karnataka.
The tour began at Maani Dam Power House, where students observed the working of conventional hydroelectric infrastructure. The group then visited the Varahi Underground Hydroelectric Power Plant, gaining first-hand exposure to underground engineering techniques used in modern power generation.
At Saint Mary's Island, students explored the unique columnar basaltic rock formations and learned about the island's status as a Geological Heritage Site of India. The visit concluded near Sakaleshpura, where students examined slope stability structures and landslide prevention engineering deployed across the Western Ghats.
The visit connected classroom theory directly to live engineering installations, helping Civil Engineering students see how structural, geotechnical, and environmental concepts come together in real infrastructure projects.
