Objectives
  • To ensure effective implementation of the reservation policy for Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) in admissions, recruitment, and promotions as per Government of India and UGC norms.

  • To monitor and evaluate compliance with reservation policies in teaching and non-teaching appointments, admissions, and other institutional processes.

  • To collect, analyze, and report data related to admissions, appointments, and representation of SC/ST candidates, and assess trends toward achieving prescribed quotas.

  • To undertake follow-up measures and recommend corrective actions to achieve the targets laid down by the Government of India and UGC.

  • To promote educational advancement and welfare of SC/ST students and staff, ensuring equal opportunity and institutional support.

University Grant Commission, New Delhi is continuously monitoring the prevention of caste- based discrimination in Higher Educational Institutions. Therefore, teaching, non-teaching staff and students can lodge a complaint if they have any issue related to caste-based discrimination.

Functions:
  • Circulate Government of India and UGC guidelines/orders related to reservation, and collect annual data on SC/ST admissions and appointments in prescribed formats.

  • Monitor implementation of reservation policies in teaching and non-teaching recruitment, promotions, and training programmes, and maintain relevant records.

  • Collect and analyze reports on education, training, and employment of SC/ST candidates, and prepare consolidated reports for submission to competent authorities.

  • Address grievances and representations from SC/ST students and employees regarding admission, recruitment, promotion, and related matters, functioning as a Grievance Redressal Cell.

  • Maintain statutory registers and documentation relating to SC/ST employment and student enrollment in compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Monitor remedial coaching and support schemes, where applicable, for academic improvement of SC/ST students.

  • Recommend policy improvements or new initiatives to promote higher education and welfare of SC/ST communities within the institution.

  • Undertake any additional responsibilities assigned by statutory authorities to ensure social justice and inclusive growth.
